Chili For A Chilly Day

For Super Bowl it was cold and blustery.  I thought I would make up some chili to warm all of us up.  It worked.  Also the temp is threatening to get to below zero this week...I am NOT excited about that. Here is a picture which BAP and SSP were proud...they made Daddy a cake for the special day (sorry, no picture of this awesome chili).

Chili
adapted from: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/09/frito-chili-pie/

3 pounds ground beef (part chorizo is tasty too)
1 large onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 (12oz) jar chili sauce
1 (28oz can) crushed tomatoes
1 can Ro-tel tomatoes (tomatoes with green chilies)
1 t oregano (Italian Seasoning works in a pinch)
2 T ground cumin
4 T chili powder
1 (14oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (28oz) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained (also have subbed a 14oz pinto beans - rinsed and drained - and 14oz chili beans)
1/2 cup corn flour (dissolved in 1 cup warm water)

Brown ground beef with onions; crumble. Rinse and drain.  Dump in crockpot. Add garlic, chili sauce, crushed tomatoes, Ro-tel, oregano, cumin and chili powder.  Cook on LOW for 6 hours. Add beans. Cook for another 6 on LOW. Then during last 25minutes add corn flour-water mixture (just to thicken).  Serve with chips and cheese.
