When Life Throws You A Curve Ball....
CELEBRATE LIFE. Around Father's Day we were overjoyed to find out that we were pregnant once again. All of us were so excited; especially BAP. He kept talking about what he was going to do when the baby got here (we told him in August). All went smoothly with every appointment. The doctors were able to quickly find baby's heartbeat...we rejoiced since it was so strong and evident. We had many ultrasounds (even free ones, at the local Options Clinic, since their tech needed a quota every month to keep up her license). We loved being able to go in and check up on BabyCakes (we could do these appointments until I was 17 weeks; since she did not want to 'accidently' reveal baby's gender). Last week husband and I traveled to undisclosed location for work. We had been looking forward to this trip (even if it was business related) since it was just going to be the 2 of us...mini vacation before we became a family of 5. Mom and Dad graciously watched BAP and SSP when we were gone Monday-Friday. However on Monday (the week before we left) I had went in for my regular check up...great heartbeat 150-154 beats per minute (after suspecting something was up since BabyCakes had not moved much since my sister's wedding in August). Then on the Friday before (Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross) we went into our 20 week ultrasound with great excitement. We even brought BAP along so he could 'wave' to his baby. However on Friday at the ultrasound appointment, the tech could NOT find a heartbeat. What the heck?! We sat/lie there in disbelief; it was so un-real. We were told to get to my regular doctor right away so she could listen too. Doctor told me that I should come in on Saturday and be induced. Monday through Friday turned into Friday through Friday. Baby L was born at 938pm on Sept 15 (Our Lady of Sorrows Feast). She weighed in at about 1/3 pound and was about 8 inches long. So perfectly formed. Now to what could have went wrong?! She had been growing perfectly (according to the book, etc) and something happened between Monday and Friday (God only knows and He knows best). Though we are saddened by our loss, we look forward to meeting our little angels in Heaven one day. This last Monday we were able to do a burial at our local Catholic Cemetery (plots are donated for families who have lost a little one.) It was a really nice day. We celebrated with cake that evening as a 'birthday cake for baby' with the boys...they loved the party. We still are celebrating her life!
