A Holiday Drink (To Make Us Merry)

Growing up, I remember my Dad (and brothers when old enough) would drink hot buttered rum drinks.  This year for Dad's Christmas present I gave him a container of some homemade mix.  It tastes good on its own  too without the rum...mmm.

Hot Buttered Rum
adapted from: http://www.mygourmetconnection.com/wine-spirits/cocktail-recipes/rum-cocktails/hot-buttered-rum.php

1 pound light brown sugar
1/2 pound UNsalted butter,  softened
2 t cinnamon
2 t nutmeg (I halved)
1/2 t allspice
2 t vanilla

Combine all in a large bowl, mixing well.  Place in airtight containers (makes about 3 cups).  Place in fridge or freezer until ready to use.
